Our Upper Room Response

Join with the Archdiocese of Vancouver and Proclaim and sign up by OCTOBER 1st 2020.

On October 1st, feast of St. Therese of Lisieux, patron of missions, we will present to Archbishop Miller the names of missionary disciples, who are committing to sharing Jesus in their homes and communities.

Will you step out with Proclaim?

As you go forth from the Upper Room today with, I hope, the enthusiasm that marked the first disciples, recall the Lord’s words to Peter: “put out into the deep” (Lk 5:4) for a catch.

We can’t stay close to the shore and expect an abundant catch! Jesus is calling us, his little flock in the Archdiocese of Vancouver to leave the shallow, seemingly safe waters to which we have become accustomed, and to set out into the turbulent waters where a great catch of new disciples awaits us.

Archbishop of Vancouver
Upper Room Keynote / Sept. 19, 2020

We hope the Upper Room conference inspired you - not just through it’s speakers and content - but through the Holy Spirit in you.

Did the Holy Spirit inspire you to mission? If so, be counted with the Proclaim movement, to inspire others.

Just like the disciples in the original upper room, we’re being invited to move into action. Those first disciples grew communities of believers and spread the gospel to the ends of the earth.

How might you be moved to action? Host or help with a series? Pray for missionaries? Support your parish?

For now, you might just know the Holy Spirit is moving you to some action. We are here with you. Let Proclaim be part of your missionary community.

A moving train has enough momentum to go through a brick wall, whereas a stationary one can be stalled with just a small pin in front of the drive wheel.

In mission, moments like the Upper Room can be the momentum that helps us overcome obstacles and barriers. Be counted among the many missionary disciples in Vancouver and let this be a momentum moment for our parishes and communities.

An Invitation to Mission

While COVID-19 may have disrupted many things, the #churchneverstops. Even if you did not attend the Upper Room, consider joining our commitment to proclaiming Jesus in our city.
